This clip at TPM kicks off with Schieffer saying that McCain has broken Bob Dole's appearances record with his 65th Mavericky, outside of Washington appearance.
In response to the "Why Palin?" question, McCain says
"She gave money back to the taxpayers."
Well that's not true. She increased taxes on oil producers, and used that to increase the annual stipend received by Alaskan citizens.

Uh, yeah. At what point are those handouts - and that's what we're talking about, the money they get from the state each year - considered a form of socialism? Coming from a Repug, no less. Shocking!
It's just freakin' constant. Obama proposes a windfall profits tax to fund a tax rebate of 1000 dollars a household, and that's raising taxes. Palin does exactly the same thing in Alaska, and it "returning money to the taxpayers."
